Where can I get a good First Telescope?

Here are a few places you can shop around and check out prices to start with. I suggest you decide on what you want for a first telescope and start researching prices like you did the research for your first telescope. Make sure you ask around the astronomy clubs and astronomy forums for any inside information they may have! A lot of astronomy clubs get discounts at their local scope shops ...I know our club does. 10% minimum at most places..On a $500 dollar scope that's like getting a free telrad or eyepiece!

Also, many of you may know about RTMC. That's Riverside Telescope Makers Conference, that is in southern California at Big Bear Lake every Memorial Day Weekend. It is a huge astro-fest and everybody brakes out the deals there ..A lot of us save all year to buy our astro needs and supplies at RTMC

If you have anything like that around you look there before you buy. There are also a ton of places to buy scopes online such as craig's list and astromart...If you buy a used scope take a seasoned astro buff with you...be safe.

I have a link here for ORION Telescopes. I really like there telescopes for first telescopes or beginners scopes. They do a great job for the price they ask.

Discovery Telescopes is another scope company that does a great job with their product...They are a local shop near San Diego and owner run. They like what they do. I think Binoculars.com still sells their telescopes.

All the stores above have first telescope accessories and most anything else you could think off for astronomy and more. I once found a great little refractor on craigs list.
